Setting Gear Rods

Recommended Posts

benny205mi16

Hello,

I have done a search but could not find information about setting the gear rods, lots about changing to uprated ones.

I have purchased a set of uprated gear rods, but I am wondering how to go about setting the length of them.

Is there a set length they should be or should I just change one at a time and set them that way?

What is the best way?

Thank you

Ben

As in the instructions, Remove the old rods, Get a helper to hold the gearstick centrally and fit the rods, All 205's are different and the amount I find where reverse hit's the seat is silly, A minor adjustment gets it all good again

I got them from BBM,

I also purchased the bush kit for the L bracket,

With the 10% forum discount and postage it came to £94.94 for everything.

The only down side they do not send any instructions like Miles does.

I was going to get the ones from Miles as he comes with good recomendations on here,

but I did not manage to get hold of him on the phone and needed to get them quick as the 205 is my daily driver.

Stew from BBM provides excellent service, and I'm sure he'd be only too happy to send you some instructions if you get in touch with him. As said above, the rods are piss easy (set as per previous rods and then adjust length as required if the stick doesn't sit centrally when in neutral), and the bush/bearing for the L bracket should be easy too as you just remove the original bolt and plastic bushes and fit the BBM replacements.

If it came across that I was not happy with BBM this was not meant,

I was very pleased, the delivery was fast and everything there as I had ordered it.

I would reccomend them.

And no instructions was no big deal, as I just asked on here and soon got my answer, even without any help from here you could soon guess right.
