As title -

When people have dropped in their engines, have they done so with the exhaust manifold attached to the engine or removed? I'd like to fit it as one unit, given that in my experience manifold bolts are always a ball ache, but does it fit in?!

Also interested to see how others have done it, although looking at my engine with the inlet and exhaust on I'm almost certain you would have to put the exhaust manifold on after.

Although I don't know

In my experience, once the engine is on it's mounts, you won't get the manifold on (or off!). It's either off with the subframe and do it from below or move the engine forward to gain enough space. Proper ball ache either way.

Another vote here for putting the engine in with both manifolds on. Plenty of room.

On a side note it is easy getting a NA diesel exhaust manifold off with the engine in situ

I've started removing bits to swap the manifold, but I'm going to just lift the engine back out as it'll be easier.

Lol Having just wrestled with the bloody thing I think your description of 'plenty of room' is a bit far of the mark

Nevertheless, she's on her mounts now which is great news - thanks for the help guys!!!!
