Oil Cooler

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I'm about to remove my engine which has the remote oil / water cooler and I was thinking of just getting rid of the cooler all together.

Does anybody run their 1.9 without an oil cooler if so are there any downsides?

Cheers

if its the remote one it is not a cooler, its a heat exchanger.

personally I'd keep that type, it makes oil changes a doddle, and warms the oil up far quicker than the engines with the air/oil cooler.

Thnaks for that,

I'll tart up the one that's on the engine as the pipes have seen better days.

It depends what you are going to do with the car. If it is an every day car with the odd weekend blast do as welshpug said.

If you are going to use the car on track days I would change it for the air cooled one.

But in answer to your question you can run it without the heat exchanger without any problems.
