Bmw Afm On 205 Gti?

Recommended Posts

Hi!.

On Spain's 205 club maybe we have founded an unpgrade for the original and restrictive AFM.

The BMW 320i and similars, (323i and 325i), have Jetronic injection, like 205 gti, and have a similar AFM. Can it be less restrictive or not?

What do you think?

Un saludo.

I thought they were the same size as the 205 one?

For a road car it's far more important that it's calibrated correctly than whether it's restrictive or not.

they don't look any different that's for sure, you could probably pop all the 205's circuitry in the BMW body if it is indeed larger.

I'd rather spend my efforts finding an MP3.1 ecu and loom and do away with the AFM totally.

But changing Ecu and loom its harder than fitting a simple AFM, and some competitions requires "standard" induction.

Anyway, if the BMW AFM is the same as the gti one...

It's not the same though, that's the thing.

There's loads of cars out there using the same AFM, but they are configured for different fuelling, so you can't just fit one from another type of car and expect it to work just the same. I know you probably think you've struck gold with this, but honestly, after all these years do you not think this would have been a common modification by now if it was really that simple?:lol:

but do you know it doesnt work? someone has to be the first to try something

i take your point about the fuelling but if you use the one of the 320 on a 1.9 it might work[and it might cure all the fuel proplems]

Of course it's been tried, it's the same fuel system and it's over 25 years old.

It won't work well, even 1.6 and 1.9 AFM's are very different, Lots of cars (Range Rover as a example) use the same design as the resistance to the ECU will be different

For std ind requirements you just keep the body of the AFM and remove the inside's then run on Aftermarket management

I used a vauxhal 2.0 8 valve one on my old k reg 205 for years and it was ok, it was only one number out on the part number

Yes, this can be and option. Someone told it in Spain's forum and maybe will run well.
