Reverse Light Switch

hi there people i have just got a peugeot 205 with a mi 16 engine in with a 1.6 gear box could any 1 tell me were the reverse light switch is please

Is the box a be1 or be3, Iirc it is normaly on the front around by the clutch arm.

I think it should have a blue 2 pin plug going to it.

well the car was a auto now manual its a 1.6 box no idea what type tho

It's a white 2-pin plug for the reverse switch.

 

Blue 2-pin is for the ECU temp sender.

 

BE1 and BE3 reverse switches are different - BE1 is reverse next to 1st, BE3 is reverse below 5th.

so i have to wires hanging down in the middle of the car as it was a auto so do i connect these to the white 2 pin plug or were do i connect them thanx?

Touch the two wires together - reverse light should come on if they're the right two wires. From memory, they're purple and brown on manual cars.

 

Assume they are and it does, and the reverse light comes on, then simply put one wire to each pin on the reverse switch.

If it was an auto box the reverse switch was at the front of the gearbox and had 4 wires going to it as it was also the starter inhibitor switch. Have a look by the screen washer bottle for the loom, you should see 4 wires going nowhere. Find out which 2 are for the reverse light and extend them to the switch on top of the BE gearbox. The 2 wires you can see in the middle of the car might be for the gear selecter ilumination used only on auto models.

had another look at this the wires under the when joined toghter dont do any thing had a look by the washer bottle couldnt see the for wires?? all help gratefully received
