Should U Hear Fuel Pump

my 1.9 catalyst models started dying spluttering then going ok again ive tried leads and a dizzy cap and rotor arm to no avail, it all started when i filled her up [usually only put £20 in] wondered if the petrols cleaned the top half of the tank and now clogged the pump filter up ,, as ive noticed i can hear the pump buzzing away on tickover and i never noticed it before ? or is this normal ,,,,, a new coils on the way although the one ons only 12 mnth old but its just a cheap motaquip one are these prone to fail early? cheers folks

You can hear the pump, although it's not normally obvious with the engine running unless you're very low on fuel (which the pump starts whinning) especially if you've a full interior fitted.

sounds like a dieing alternator, measure the amount its charging accross the battery.

thanx for them ideas sorry john didnt read it till today , damn saw you this morn as well ,, its one of them that come and go so no doubt it,ll be fine when i show you ,,, im on the first bus tamara 4.45 then dentist straight after i finish, i,ll look for you friday if it gets me there ,,,cheers all
