On my Mi I have the DES S/S Group N system with a single back box. It's f'kin loud!

Maybe I'm geting old, but it's just too much for the road (and most tracks I'd guess). When I get it back on the road one of the jobs will be to get a middle box added.

I've had the old mild steel Grp N systems on 8v GTIs before, and I'm sure this one is quite a bit more unsociable.

I've got a single box Powerflow system on the 2.0 turbo and It's probably one of the loudest 205's I've heard, definitely going to add a centre box at some point.

I have a twin box Magnex on my turbo. Static test for track day duties it is very quiet, something like 87db.

However under load is a different story, it makes a lovely racket on full attack.

Simpson custom system, 2 boxes, 2.5"

87dB

Old single-box Powerflow system, 2.25", started off around the 93dB mark but once it'd blown all the wadding out it stepped the wrong side of 98dB :D

This is what I was hoping to hear, although all comments welcome so far. Was that a huge single box powerflow system?

Just weighing up 'tings' at the minute before I finalise these 'tings'.

Indeed Miles I did forget material!

My mate has that exhaust on his 205 - so noisy it's just plain rude. Definitely wouldn't recommend it.

I have the mild steel Peugeot Sport Group N exhaust on mine. More acceptable, but I'm not sure if I could put up with it on a car that I drove every day.

Mr Anderson

My old 309 MI had a maniflow 2 1/4" manifold and a straight through stainless powerflow sytem of the same size.....it was only like it for 9 days before the noise was too much and i went back to have a small straight through silencer fitted in the middle.was still very loud even with the silencer in the middle though but it just took the edge of it....

Used to make my ears ring on journeys over half hour or so.....just couldnt put up with it.lol

It wasn't the biggest silencer they could have got in there, no, but it wasn't the smallest either.

The Simpson rear silencer is repackable, the main difference between it and the Powerflow (along with weight)...

I have a Powerflow stainless steel 2.5" (?) system on my GTi6 205 and its reasonably loud. Fairly boomey at motorway speeds, so you need to turn the stereo up a lot. Thankfully I'm naturally a bit deaf so it doesn't bother me. However it gives the missus a headache. Its good to know at least one of my cars is safe from her nicking it :)
