Camshaft Oil Spray Bars

Recommended Posts

Are the camshaft oil spray bars supposed to be a tight fit into the mounting holes?, as mine is quite easy to pull off, and I am worried it will come off as soon as the oil gets upto pressure.

mine was easily pulled off when i stripped head down, fitted some new o rings when rebuilding and it is a nice tight fit now.

Thanks for replies, service box only lists the bar complete and is not available. Smithy did you just use standard round O rings as they appear to be square ones.

yes i have got a couple of box's of assorted o rings from work just put the ones that best fitted on,been a few months since did it but if i remember correctly the plastic journals are square but part that slots in to the cam caps was round so standard o ring fitted fine?

For any searchers part no is 1166 21 and can be found under the 405 as mentioned by Jord, they are about £1.20 each. I will have a go with O rings first. Thanks for all replies.

They can't lift out, even with old o-rings, as the cam cover has bosses which hold them down.

I didn't know that. But if they come off easily with the rocker off then it's usually because the o-ring has shrunk/hardended so new ones should give it a bit of grip.
