Exhaust Advice

Recommended Posts

Matt205

I need to replace the exhaust on my 1.6. I'm interested in performance and quality. The general consensus appears to be use genuine pug parts, however my local dealer has told me the back box is no longer available and the middle section (manifold to back box) will be £270. this seems very expensive for mild steel.

Does anyone have any recommendations for an alternative? Pug dealer suggested Bosal would proved an excellent quality pattern alternative, but I'm concerned about quality. Any other recommended suppliers and likely pricing? I would consider stainless.

Thanks

check it is an Arvin system before ordering though and buy late 2 part spec.

Most exhaust systems seem to be discontinued though actually it would not cost a massive amount to do a stainless straight through version to follow the standard system. Manifolds cost a lot more to develop as clearance is far more critical.

The last bosal system I got had the middle box welded on at a funny angle.. It kept on hitting the bottom of the car. However, it doesn't anymore as it's so dented from hitting the bottom of the car so much! :)

They are okay, fairly good quality if they're welded together properly. I'm sure mine was probably a one off...
