Oil Pressure Problems 1.9 8v

Recommended Posts

I've already done a search but I can't find a definitive answer for this. I seem to be having some oil pressure issues when driving relatively hard; when I start the car the oil pressure climbs to 3/4 on the gauge and then will drop to maybe 1/3 on running temp on idle which I understand is normal. Then when the engine is at running temp, the oil pressure will generally rise along with the revs, but sometimes it drops and picks up erratically when I accelerate hard and on overrun, sometimes dropping very low. What are the likely causes of this? I thought it might be the oil pump as I have no idea when it was last replaced, but could it be as simple as the oil filter or oil itself? Any help appreciated, thanks

your oil maybe too thin, or your oil pump worn out, or bottom end bearings

Miles

Sounds more like old wiring causing a high resistance or when the engine's moving around the wire makes and breaks contact

As Miles has said sounds more like a old 205 wiring.

smithy

as above most likely the wiring at fault have a check of the brown multi plug above bell housing at a guess i would say the contacts are nie and green.

i got a handful of spade connectors and a m5 ring along with some new wire and made up a new piece of loom and soldered it in getting rid of the brown plug.
