Hi

Got hands at this TB:

here next to Mi TB:

Smaller diameter opens first, than the big one.

From which engine is it?

What it takes to fit on Mi?

Mounting holes suggest it's a straight fit. Is it?

Does anybody run it on a Mi?

What are ups and downs?

Thanks!

It looks vaguely similar to the VAG throttle bodies fitted to a few models, although I'm not sure which exact one it is from the photo.

You'll need to open up the inlet manifold slightly for the larger butterfly, and from the VAG TB's I've seen you'll need to do something for the TPS and potentially the cable routing/operation too.

There should be some topics on here from a while back, as using VAG TB's (I think it was a Golf Mk2 16v one that was recommended) was a reasonably popular thing, as GTi-6 conversions weren't popular then and good Mi16 TB's were thin on the ground.

For some reason i'm thinking vw/audi 2.8 vr6 throttle body? There is a guide on the main 205gtidrivers website about fitting one iirc.

Yes, I have read ze article. TB used is almost the same as mine.

I understand this coversion is the reasonable way to take when Mi TB goes down.

Are there any performance gains compared to Mi TB?

I am unsure of actual performance gains but supposedly it makes for a less jerky ride when in stop start traffic because the small throttle opens first rather than the standard Mi16 TB which both open together, so its more progressive. I would be surprised if it improved performance much as the main bottle neck in the inlet tract is the AFM; which would remain.
