as above, can't seem to find them anywhere.

very dissapointed.

understand falken 912 are an alternative, would rather steer clear of t1-r's as they seemed to be pants in the wet.

Surely if Goodyear have phased out such a popular tyre, they must have an alternative, or be introducing one soon. Would be madness to discontinue it otherwise, as it got so much praise (not just on here, but other car forums too) so was clearly a good seller.

Got Falken 912s on the front of mine but never really put it through it's paces since they were fitted, so afraid I can't comment on them. But I did but them on the basis of good feedback, Miles being one supporter.

They have been like that for a while now along with the production moved to another country, Won't be missed at all by me as I will have to say the most over rated tyre ever. But 15" now isn't a popular size so only a limited choice, See how many cars on on upto 18" now so it's much like 13 and 14" rims years ago.

As said the 912's are excellent Value, Not the best but a good all rounder, The Pilot's are rated well but these are at least twice the price

Ive talked about it before but the premium brands have stopped development of "our" tyre sizes some time ago, but I think you will find the Korean and smaller Japanese tyre brands have taken up the slack and I bet the Falken 512 was already better than the Eagle F1 let alone the 912.

Justin - if you fancy popping over at some point, I've got a couple of sets of wheels here - one set with Falken 912's and one set with Hankook S1 Evo's if you wanted to "try before you buy". I'd happily recommend either :)

But 15" now isn't a popular size so only a limited choice, See how many cars on on upto 18" now so it's much like 13 and 14" rims years ago.

This. Take a look at the selection available in 185/60R14 (1.6 GTi) and you'll see just how limited the selection of performance-oriented tyres is - it's mostly Chinese ditchfinders and premium "eco" stuff, and chances are that it'll get worse, not better :(

I bet the Falken 512 was already better than the Eagle F1 let alone the 912.

512's weren't very good at all in my experience - 912's are though, and 452's are meant to be good also (but not available in 195/50R15)

Falken 912s are very very cheap, but they're all-season tyres, so good in all seasons, but they're not billed as a usual "summer" high performance tyre. My brother put some on his A4 estate, says it was much better in snow this year with them on, but they just look like a run of the mill tyre to me.

I'd prefer a good run of the mill looking tyre that works than a "tuner " tyre that doesn't :)

They're GSD3s though so , thought we were talking about the newer Assymetric? Although at £63 each for 195/50 I'd pass on those!!

What's a tuner tyre? hehe. Falken promote the FK452 as their flagship tyre but no 195/50 as mentioned, the ZE range is a usually standard family car material. They seemed to have soft walled and lots of little cuts to reflect the all-season nature of the tyre. I briefly had some of ZE512s on my 205, they're as hard as nails and offered no grip. Some Kumhos (can't remember the pattern though but it was discontinued) I had at the time were so much better, one of my favourite tyres on the 205!!

Hankook V12 EVO seem to be a well rated at the budget end.

512's were pretty poor - 912's are a massive improvement over them, although still quite hard wearing (tread wear index of 360 IIRC)

Hankook V12 EVO seem to be a well rated at the budget end.

Heard good things about the V12's but not tried them - the S1 Evo's are very good though, and inspired confidence even in damp slippery conditions.

I'm using the Hankook V12 Evos on my Focus and on my 16" road wheels on the Caterham.

Very happy with them on the Focus. Not amazing in the snow, but general wet/dry use they are great for the money.

A pal fitted them on his Legacy and loves them. The Clio guys seem to rate them.

Not so brilliant on the Caterham, grip well enough but a bit 'sproingy' on turn-in.

I need to replace the fronts on my Pug, currently Eagle GS3s, not sure whether to go for Hankooks or 912s.

Given that tyres are a slightly subjective thing, if you've got the Hancook V12's on another car and are happy with them, why change?

Because I like them on a 1.5 tonne estate and don't really like them on a 0.6 tonne roller skate!

The Pug falls somewhere between weight-wise, and I think this might be a factor.

That price is fitted though so not bad.

As the 205 is close to the Clio I would get the Hankooks as this is their top performance tyre. Don't touch anything else by Hankook though lol
