Chrome Camshaft Cap Cover

Recommended Posts

JRL

Hi, I have one one of those shiny mi16 cam covers. its a non-standard part for covering the visible camshaft end toward the header tank. Im going to fit it but just wondering if anyone else has done it already? I can see that there is an orange seal and im guessing this has to be removed for the caps ridge to fit in. il be using a silicone sealant to bond it on. Any advice appreciated.

I don't think it needs sealing. Mine (exhaust side) is open with nothing covering it, so see no reason why you'd need to seal it in place.

Just out of interest, where did you get it? As they are no longer available from PSA.

I'd imagine a little sealer like Wellseal is all that would be needed as its an interference fit, you would need to remove the seal that's already present as its flush with the outside of the hole IIRC.

I bought it for a tenner off a membner on this forum i think he made them i cant remember his name but il check my msgs. ok cheers for confirming what i thought so the original orange seal has to come out and then bond it in.

thanks

Do you mean one of these:

If so the orange seal stays in.

I just put a touch of RTV sealant to make it nice and secure.

It's alloy and I recommend you paint it with some high temp paint, corrodes badly if not.
