Lairy Cam Options For My 1.9 Build

Recommended Posts

Bigtimmy

Right then, inbetween designing, planning and building my new house this year I'm going to do some head work to my 1.9 engine.

The question I have is what will be the best cam for me?

It's for my track car which will be running a lightened and balanced bottom end and twin 45's. It doesn't do much if any road work.

I did a quick search and found lots of info on 1.6 cams and cam timing, but not much on the 1.9 options.

I'd like to run standard ignition if I can with a recurved dizzy.

What are your thoughts on lairy cams for the 1.9.

Thanks in advance.

i'd get something like omex200 and get it mapped, its very easy to install and you'll be able to get the most out of the engine that way.

and if it's lairy make sure you have enough compression to make it work properly, long duration will mean a loss of dynamic compression, even though it's a track car you still want the car to have umph out of the tighter stuff.

Newman cams are great, have the ph4 in mine and works great loads of grunt from reasonably low rpm. Head needs relieving for the lobes to turn and double valve springs and recommended 11.5-1 comp ratio.
