How To Loose Weight

Recommended Posts

mmt

Hi Guys,

My 205 needs to lose some weight.

I race the car in a weight/power ratio class. The car is about 40 kg. too heavy.

Where can I lose weight?

The car is already stripped ! Creativity is welcome!

Does anyone know what the inside door panel weigh?(I wonder if cutting it out is worth the effort)

Thanks

wheels, smaller brakes, that can give the most benefit as its unsprung and rotational.

Anyone else on losing weight on the car? :)

Expected waistline reply only question was how fast they would come.

I agree with welshpug, lose the wheels, they are unnecessary

look at how much fuel you carry. A smaller tank can save weight and also allow repositioning to balance the car more.

race spec battery is a light thing - mount it in the boot too.

Perspex windows

carbon wings, bonnet, door skin, hatch

race starter motors are lighter (an XU 10 one is lighter than an XU9)

lighter alternators

remove unnecessary wiring

interior heater motor

dashboard plastics

hollow 306 hubs (but will impact your front camber)

Alloy brake calipers

Are you aloud to use fiber body panels? Proper carbon or fiberglass bonnet will save you 5-6 kilos. Race battery another 5 kilos.

Lighter wheels and brakes are the best yet not the cheapest option. Here you can save up to 20 kilos.

I run doors with poly windows and the internals cut out and they save a good deal of weight. The wing mirrors are weighty as well.

Cheaper pattern bumpers are a good one too as some of the ones I have seen are so flimsy compared to the heavy genuine Peugeot ones. You could consider losing the arch mouldings too if it gets you into the right class and the slatted rear tailgate panel

Thanks guys.

I carry as little fuel as possible.

Already have a race batterÿ. Saved me 10 kg. It´s now where the backseat used to be.

Already have plastic windows(at least the 4 side sindows)

Alloy calipers is in place(in the front, std in the back.)

I´ll have to find plastic/carbon bonnet and hatch and start cutting the inside of the doors.
