Can One Swap The Centre Caps Over From Be1 To Be3 Gear Knobs?

As above, in my quest for a good gear knob, could I swap the plastic top from one gear knob to another, i.e turn a BE3 knob into a BE1 knob without causing damage and look crappy.

Sometimes you can, sometimes you can't

 

The problem is that the gear knob plastic is very brittle despite having that slightly rubbery feel to it, and it is quiet easy to chip the edge around the badge off when removing and refitting - especially as the badge has a slight lip on it.

when they are new it can be done but once old the plastic insert and the rubber around the adge gets brittle as said, so its a sh!t or bust move, you can try but you could end up breaking them!

 

warm the up in hot water might soften the plastic maybe? never done it but might work, but dont blame me if it doesnt!! lol!
