and the bell housing.

Bellhousing is 4.7kg, rear diff is 23kg, then you have prop-shaft on top of that.. obviously having a transaxle is a lighter option, but not really an option for this kind of build without going MR.

Yesterday wasn't the day in the end, the guy is speaking to Drenth about my ratios so I'll hopefully be placing the order today / tomorrow. :)

Yeah I had seen that advert, and at one point was thinking why am I buying brand new when I could get a rebuilt 2nd hand one? But the ratios will most likely be wrong for my application, as will the input shaft, so it saves me a load of hassle (and probably some cash) in the long run.

Problem solved then, MR it is.

Playing too much Gran Turismo I suspect. "Mid-engined, rear wheel drive".

This arrived yesterday. :D

I went and got the few little connector bits & bobs today, so now I finally have my water cooler and am ready to start fully welding the chassis.

In other news - I have two weeks off work starting Friday, so watch this space. :D

It's getting more and more serious, love the choice of gearbox and I'm really interested what you will do with the rear to fit those wheels, what type of arch will you use ?

I'm just going to go for some simple Berg Cup style arch extensions, all the cooling will be in the front of the car so there's no need for any big wide-body arches / vents or anything.

I got word back from Drenth on my ratios, as they wanted to double-check before I placed the order, and everything is ok. Fingers crossed I'll be placing the order today. :D

This is a fair point, and don't think the MSA scrutineers won't be hot on checking it either (they certainly are with stage rally cars). They know all the tricks to making it look like it's done too (not that I'm suggesting you wouldn't do it properly).

I have an 8mm x 40mm shroud that should be able to get into all the tight spots. :)

Another session today, after a Sunday spent in bed hungover.

Some pics of the welds so far:

I'm still a little rusty after 3 years of not doing any TIG, but it's starting to come back. I reckon by the time I get to the last weld I'll be back to the standard I was.
