Recommended Posts

anyone hae any measurements or know what the difference is between the 309 engine bay and a 205 one is?

i'd hazard a guess that they're the same width but the 309 in longer but anyone know by how much?

cheers

Quite allot, If you have a look at my V6 thread you can see as everything fits without cutting anything compared to the 205 where the Rad hangs out the Grill

I think the extra space is at the front so you still need an angled manifold, but not 100% sure

lot of extra space in front, extra space between engine and bulkhead

Yes only in front of the engine, Subframe and Bulkhead space is all the same as a 205

no it is not

subframe is the same, I agree on this

309GTI16 4-1 exhaust manifold clearance to bulkhead much better in 309 than in 205

try to fit std 309 airbox at std position in 205 engine bay, no go

also, clearance problems with fitting the slim 309 expansion tank in 205

No they are the same, Floor pan and engine bay are the same, I guess it's LHD and RHD differances more than anything as that manifold doesn't fit a RHD car.

I am referring to LHD car and GTI16 mechanicals, as on my car

Just checked photos of my late donor car, can not tell for sure but it seems you're right regarding 309 bulkhead space

I have tried to recreate the same layout, but airbox just won't fit, and it looks like there's a tad more width between the struts

This is the key part, more space in 309 front:
