Heater Not Working

Recommended Posts

Will Eastman

My heater fan descided to stop working recently, so i started faffing about testing the fan worked sing a different power source (it did) n messing about with the circuitboard thing behind the control knobs. Having no luck i did a search and found that a common fault is the resistor thing, so i took this out (it looked pretty nakered) and replaced it. But now the heater still doesnt work. What else could it be? One thing i noticed is that the resistor that i took out had 4 pins on the conector, and the one i put in had 5. Oh and my stero wont turn on or anything, dont know if this could be related (fuses look fine) thanks

You mentioned your radio has also stopped working, so if the matrix was leaking, it could have shorted it out.

Hey thanks for the help, just been out for abit of a fiddle and there isnt any sign of leaking. I also re-checked the fan, and its is very dodgy, it is very intermitent, and thats when just connecting it to an exterior power source (not the resistor). Any more ideas on the stero not working, could i have blown something in it when i jump started the car recently?

I find it hard to believe you could've done any damage while jump starting the car but how far & what did you take apart when you stripped the dash bits down?

There is a copper sprung wiper that crosses the tracks on the circuit board that is easily lost & stops it rom working.

Graham.
