Recommended Posts

looking at making or buying a manifold for twin 40mm carbs on my 8v. i noticed the alternator sits in the way and may be a problem? anyone had any experience of fitment? pics? it looks like i could adjust it lower and use a shorter belt or does it need to step around the alt? did a search but couldn find an exact answer.

You can Buy said manifold around £150 new, and the alternator bracket will need slight modification which involes a hacksaw and hand files, the bracket ends up with section out of the top just under the manifolds number 1 port runner from the front of the engine. However if fitted with air-con then you will have a larger problem I have not seen a mod to this type of bracket, but am sure it has been done.

i have read the article on this forum with doesnt really cover this problem. i have a base model 205 si or in uk an xs? its got air cond and pwr steer. come to the conclusion that the air will most likely need to go. may need gti bracket to drop the alt down? who in uk sells good manifolds. im after a small port one to suit twin 40s not a 45mm bore manifold with ring plate as i have been offered.
