High Level Brake Light

Recommended Posts

johnnyboy666

ive just got a 3rd high level brake light for the 205, seems like an easy enough fit, but can anybody recommend

- the best place to splice the wiring

- the best route to hide the wires

- does splicing it in different places affect the other lights at all? (im not to electronically minded)

cheers

john

Run the wires under the headlining, then down behind the plastic trim and down to one of the back lights. Light units are easy to remove (one bolt IIRC) and then just use a test light or multimeter to find the positive wire for the brake lights, and you can either connect the negative to one of the ground wires or tap it in to bare metal. When I did one years ago I just connected it to the bolt that holds the light unit in place.

John,

Can you show me some pics of the unit you intend to use or a link etc.

Fancy adding one of these myself.

Cheers

thats very similar to the one i got, but i got mine from halfrauds (got a gift card for xmas)

although it had a lot of extra unnecesary plastic casing which i removed, and made some mounts up myself, so it was a bit more compact.

still havent got round to wiring it in yet tho, need to dig out a multimeter to find the right wire.
