Pressure At Oil Filler

Recommended Posts

Alfie

Very worried! someone put me out my misery please. Engine (1.9 Gti) runs fine, no rattles, good oil pressure. Found today that there is positive pressure at the oil filler. Is this normal and if its not, whats going on?

Can't find out on the forum if the engine runs a closed or open vent system. Someones already suggested that its perfectly normal for a Pug engine?

Yeah, its perfectly normal imo, its the air being displaced through the cycle of the crankshaft etc.

It's a closed vent system fitted to the xu engines as standard afaik.

Thanks Graham. Quite suprising how much pressure generated.

Yeah but then it is displacing around 1905cc of air each cycle.
