I know, it's hard to keep them clean isn't it, especially if it's a daily driver!

Well, I got the 40's cleaned yesterday & fitted them this afternoon, after a few alterations to accommodate the new inlet manifold!

I've just got back after a 20 mile spin in the car & it sounds feckn fantastic! It just needs balancing and fine tuning now, and she's good to go!

It's been a while since my last update.

Nothing major has happened really, except I've been busy getting the float heights spot on on the 40's.

I did a track evening a few weeks ago at the Anglesey Circuit, and discovered a fueling problem in 5th gear, as it wouldn't go over 5,000 rpm in 5th, but would in 1st to 4th.

It was down to the mechanical fuel pump not being able to keep up the demand at high rpm in top gear.

I fitted a Facet fuel pump and Sytec fuel pressure regulator last weekend and I'm happy to say that the problem is gone. :)

A few pictures of the track evening and the new fuel set up;

I took part in another track evening last week, got the car running spot on now with no fuel surging problems. It was all going really well until the ignition control module decided to die on me, I wouldn't have minded, but I was almost flat in fourth doing a 105 when it just stopped..... I had BMW M3 on my arse at the time, which made it interesting..... :lol:

A few pictures from last weeks track evening at the Anglesey Circuit.

We'll it's been a while since my last update.

Nothing much has been happening 205 wise, because I've had a lot of things going on work wise.

I have started a new job working in Rolls-Royce in Derby, so I'm living there during the week and traveling home to spend the weekends with my wife and children, so not much time to tinker with the Pug :(

However, I'm off from the 21st of Dec and back on the 2nd of January, my Car Club is running an end of year Auto Test, so I'll be taking part on the 30th of Dec. I can't wait to sit in the pilot seat of it again, after driving the commuting car about.

The car is currently SORN and the MOT has expired, but I'm hoping to get it back on the road from March until September next year to use on the weekends :)

Can't wait!

After working away in Derby for six months, I'm back home and have started to put some serious time in on the car again, with a view to getting it back on the road next month.

I ended up destroying the diff on the event back in December.

I Took the gearbox out of the car back in early May and had it on the bench to see what the problem was, these are a few pictures of how the Gearbox strip went;

As you can see, the Sun and planet gears are trashed, so it's time to buy a new set!

After further investigation, the pieces of the gears had got into the diff bearings, damaged the tapered rollers and the bearing race, I've had a look on ebay, I can buy the sun and planet gears but they dont seem to list the two bearings.

I hope I can find a set, so some more tinterweb searching required!

A few pics of the damage caused;

Well, I've done quite a bit of work the last few days, here's what's been happening;

Last weekend I headed to Constella in Shepshed, Leicestershire, to buy an XS gearbox. I met up with Alex from this forum and Rob who owns Constella.

It was cool to finally get to Constella, and what a great couple of lads they are, I could have spent all day there talking to them, but I had the misses with me so I couldn't stay for too long...lol!

Last week was spent degreasing and painting the gearbox in preparation for fitting it at the weekend,here's a few pictures of how it went;

She's now ready for am MOT next week, just needs Tax and the insurance is sorted. Really looking forward to getting behind the wheel of it again :D

Whats the nest project mate? If you put half as much attention to detail into as this one it should be great!

Hi mate, next project is going to be a little more stealthy. Comfort rather than raw bare bones interiors. I'm going to get a MkI Focus ST170 once the Pug has gone, then probably a MkI Focus RS.

After changing job back in March, I have now decided to put in some work on the XS, as I can afford more time to work on it rather than just drive it now :)

I decided to get back into Road Rallying, and I started striping and sorting out the interior a few weeks ago. The Twin 40 Dellortos had to go to comply with the regulations, so I have sold them and decided to get the car set up on a single 40 DCOE.

I've decided to complete the interior first, then Engine & Gearbox out, clean, check, tidy and paint them, then sub frame off for a refurb, and respray the engine bay. Then the rear end, axle off for clean and repaint, and paint the underside of the car, and hopefully, around March/April an external respray.

Here's a few pictures of the progress so far....
