205 Gti6, With Vts Ph2 Manifold And D/pipe?

Recommended Posts

i have a xsara vts ph2 car. for my 205 conversion. i was wondering if anyone has re, angled and fitted the ph 2 downpipe, instead of using the usual flange with 2 bolts and spring arrangement? just making my own 'things to spend on' in the new year list. also includes sorting out the vts rack... getting hold of the u.j thing i need but im not sure what it is.

Never seen it done, but doesn't mean it can't be done i guess ( although i wouldn't know what a ph2 manifold looks like , used a ph1 on mine)

Dont know if anyone on here has done it, but I did see Magic using one on a conversion in Australia, can't find the pics now as the Aussiefrogs forum seems to have lots 4 years worth of data and the pics were attachments not links as far as I can find :(

cheers for lookin into it for me :(

the only reason i can see is that there is not as much flexability in the joint, as in to get it sealed and not blowing. was just thinking if i could do it myself. instead of spending a tonne on a downpipe, and a re-angled fannimold.

The flexi is part of the later downpipe, rather being at the joint itself.

Strip a few more parts off the VTS to sell and buy a proper ph1 manifold! :(

I think you would be making more work for yourself sticking with the ph2 one.

Ye, it shouldnt be a problem. i can weld ok'ish! nothing is shiftin at the moment. no one wants to buy. no one has money, and i think everyone has been put off the vts brakes. maybe some chavs of saxo forum will buy em? mi16 has got some interest, think ive sold the beam. rack will go on 205 when i work out how. so theres not much left.

like welshpug says, it has a flexi in the downpipe, so it may fit easyer than the ph1? and they arent worth anything to sell on, so its gota be worth a go. ill re-angle the fanimold with a cutting disc in the grinder, bend it and weld up, then mount the downpipe to the gti downpipe i have here, should work. just make sure i keep it out of the way from the bulkhead and the linkages. then if it still wont work ill probarbly just go and buy a 4 branch :(

its already a 4 branch :( and there's nothing off the shelf that will improve on the standard one.

if you can weld you'll be fine with what you've got and some 2.25" pipe, I doubt you'll need any of the 205's downpipe.

I got my manifold from Anthony, done by miles :( Noticed miles now does GTI6 conversion downpipes for a fairly decent price as well, so will prob go for one of those as well!

I would love to weld, its an art form. :(

Not at the correct point in life to be buying tools though! I use all my mechanic mates tools.

I'm a beach lifeguard and move from beaches in the UK in the summer and as of next winter beaches in Aus or NZ (Rallye in storage when I'm not around, already got that sorted :( )

fair play allye, get away from this sh1t hole for a bit! ill be away for next winter.... but thats another story. about my welding... i can make sparks, and spend most of the gas chasing holes around. but once i get settled i do ok! i use my mates rig, the settings are always changed when i go to use it.... thats my excuse anyhow :(

Ive done it mate! 51 plate vts exhaust manifold. unfortunatly you do still have to have it reangled, i simply cut and welded each tube just like the guide on here. i purchased a new jubilee type strap from citreon for less than a tenner. i used the flexi downpipe also from the vts system and cut off cat after the lambda boss. i then just rebuilt and exhaust system from my 309 gti system.
