Panoramic Roof ?

Recommended Posts

Ludi

Hi Everyone,

Some time I'm thinking of taking off my sunroof and integrating panoramic roof.

Cut a lit a bit the roof and using the std sunroof glass from the 205,buying some rubber (frame) and I hope that is going to be nice.

205 with more light in it. ;)

What's your opinions about that, and do you think that is going to work?

It's going to be something like the 307 SW ;)

Well I hope about that. ;)

Cheers,

Viktor

Interesting idea but I always thought that the 205 had a huge amount of light in it already due to the thin a pillars, the large rear window etc. Certainly compared with other modern cars anyway.

Won't the shells rigidity be affected by cutting most of the roof away?

I love the idea but It would have to be carefully done for the rigidity of the shell and the stress on the glass. Would probably need a rollcage fitted!

I think you would have fun with the curvature of the roof to make it look neat. I don't think the standard flimsy roof has a lot of structural rigidity anyway having seen the amount they flex on a non sunroof model. A sun roof model has bracing.

I'm giving my honest opinion, because you asked for it. I think this is an awful idea, there has been no point when I've looked up at the sunroof and thought "I wish there was more of that!". I have sometimes looked at it and thought "If I crashed and was sliding along on the roof I'm sure I would instinctively put my hands above my head, could my hand go out the sunroof and be cut off?".

Never been in a 307sw or suchlike? Cool as hell having a glass roof.

I have and it was cool, BUT I never wanted to drive a 307sw fast! I've driven a toyota hilux offroad, I dont want to put a 7inch lift kit on my 205 and drive it round like a monster truck!!

I like the idea of a panoramic roof though! I can't contribute to the safety aspect but i think its a cool idea.

I say go for it mate ,break the mould, not to my liking but its diffrent and a challenge.Theres to many people doing the same thing so its nice to see someone doing or thinking about doing something diffrent.

The thing i would be worried about is not having the flex in the roof when driving becuase glass does`nt tend to flex without cracking or breaking. So i think you would have to make a frame for it a pretty sturdy frame wich wont give under cornering forces .Or dont make it out of glass you some thick laminated perspex

Yeah thats what id go for probably be cheaper than getting a peice of glass made.As for safety plenty of people run fibreglass roofs .Allso its going to still be safer than some cabriloe`s ive seen such as the 306 one wich has no cross bar so if you roll that its game over
