Recommended Posts

got my car as a head gasket failiure and a mate said he had a gasket i could have free i bolted it all up (not torqued up yet) and i noticed in haynes when looking at the head bolt sequencing and it says to be aware of differences so i checked and found they dont match

will it be an issue and do i need to pull it all back apart as i had no idea when assembeling as its my first build on a 205

many thanks

Alex

it'll be fine, the gaskets for all the alloy block XU engines will fit each other as there are no differences in water or oil ways.

the difference you need to look out for are the head bolts, as they have different tightening procedures, other than that I can't remember any that'll hinder you.

yea im aware the bolt torques differ mine are the later torx type iirc 60 nm then 20 and 300 degrees rotation

if the gasket should run then im happy just wanted to check before i torqued it all up as then id need new bolts too lol

recently had head off my D6B and the head gasket kit from GSF was for all 1.6 and 1.9 petrol lumps injection or carb,as said it was just torque setting that differed

if its your first one do make sure you have the spacer fitted on the left hand rear bolt [by cam pulley]as theres many an engine been scrapped by leaving it out!!!!
