Fuel Gauge Not Working?

The fuel gauge on my '89 1.6 doesn't eem to be working? Im having problems at the moment getting it started and am unsure if the problem with either the fuel relay, fuel pump or immobiliser would affect the fuel gauge??

The uel guage sender is seperate to the uelpump (next to it in the tank) & doesn't run through any relay etc & I doubt an immobiliser would aect it.

 

Have you checked the fuses to see it hasn't blown the guage one? (same fuse for heater blower & indicators so will be obvious if its gone).
