Evening all

*your standard help me message*

Finished replacing the top 2 engine mounts today, fitted everything back, was fine, started up, lumpy as hell idle, put this down to the fact it was terrible wether and cold, so let it come up to temp completely before driving it, felt like it was missing one cylinder abit, but seemed fine after a while, took it to the pumps, put £18 of super unleaded in, was running pretty low i think on fuel (fuel gauge abit random). started fine after that, due to it being abit off earlier i gave it abit of a hoon out of the garage as i thought it would clear its throat abit, then it just stuttered and died at the next set of lights.

Cranks fine, refuses to even fire even with easy start

HELP?!

first thing check to make sure all plugs/leads are connected tightly to coil, module and dizzy etc and nothing has been disturbed while doing mounts failing that check fuel pump is getting feed and pumping and also for a spark and take from there.

I found on my old 8v gti, put the ignition on, and if you can hear the pump. (under rear seats) working, put ur hand on the rail on the inlet manifold, you should feel a little vibration if the fuel is going through there. get a plug, and stick it in every plug lead in turn, turn the engine over and get someone to look at the spark. if you have spark on them all then its maybe time to panic?

check for

Compression

spark

fuel

AFM sensor

(cant remember if these run a crank/tdc sensor)

ECU temp sensor

fuel relay is above/next to the ECU, in the drivers footwell, get on yer back and look up

Sounds like you've disturbed some wiring whilst changing the mounts, double check the ignition connections.

go to the areas you were working and systematically check all connections around there, unplug, replug, wiggle, turn key.

As above. The fact that it will not fire even with easy start I would be looking at no spark or the AFM. + check the shunt box as I think one of the plugs feeds the tac relay.
