Reducer Bush

Recommended Posts

wardy18

Hi,

I need a reducer bush to fit my new alternator pulley which turned out to have a 17mm diameter fitment hole and my alternator has a 15mm shaft.

The bush i need is 6mm deep with a O/D of 17mm and a I/D of 15mm.

Does anyone know a good place i can get one from without spending a fortune, off the shelf would be great.

Material, in my mind, doesnt matter, can be steel or bronze.

I dont have a machine shop on the island so thats not an option unfortunately.

Many Thanks

Simon

A 6mm tall bush with 2mm wall thickness? This doesn't sound big enough to be strong enough to do anything useful, esp on a race engine turning to 7000rpm+.

If I were you I would have another pulley made with the correct hole size.

DAMN IT.........

See this is why you guys are here because you know more than i do

It will be a 1mm wall thickness too, total reduction of 2mm

Will phone Mr Satchell for one of his 90mm Diameter Alloy ones then, lets do it properly.

Nah its a Nippon Denso A073 2.7kg and half the size of a std lump, comes from many applications including Diahatsu's with less than 1000cc and alot of smaller tractors like Kubotas and Yanmars.

I have tried for ages to find a pulley for this alternator with 4 grooves and a 15mm ID hole and i thought i had one with a Fiat punto 1.2 alternator which is what arrived yesterday only to find it had a 17mm shaft and the A073 has a 15mm shaft.

I know a man who can make you an alloy pulley to your dimensions, www.force-racing.co.uk

How far do you underdrive an alternator before it stops putting out enough power to charge the battery, i can get a smaller crank alternator pulley and a larger alternator pulley and really underdrive the alternator to compensate for the higher revving engine application but do i risk underdriving the alternator too much

How do you work it out?!

Just ordered one of Colin's 90mm Alternator Pulleys and have been in contact with Force to get one of their Alloy 10% smaller Crank Alternator pulleys

Colin said this will be a suitable set up for the engine and it takes ALOT to over underdrive an alternator
