Guys. My apologies for dragging this one back to the top but im still struggling!!

I have viewed pretty much every related post using search function.

My initial post wasnt very clear so to clarify....

I have the fan wires (one red one black) that come from the middle of the fan assembly and a white plug (male i think) at the end.

When attached directly to the battery the fan kicks in.

I cannot find where this white connector should plug into on my loom.

Car is a 1600 phase 2 converted to gti6.

I'll have a look at mine tomorrow as it's in pieces just now.

I'm sure it plugs into a white male connector on the same piece of loom that the thermal switch plug sits.

I'll try to get some pictures tomorrow if I remember.

Locate the rad fan switch on the rad and follow those 3 wires, there should be a connector for the fan to connect to. The fan does not connect directly into the shunt box.

Right I had a look at mine today, the fan connects into a white two blade connector that's on the same loom as the thermoswitch and the fan resistor.

There is also a earth connection that goes into the shunt box from the same section of loom.

That is +12V, not earth. The only earth on the shunt box are the bolts going through it.

Well spotted, I suppose this is the power connection that's been missing all along.

Bear in mind though that I have disconnected the main loom from the box so the one that you are interested in is to the left of the picture.

Brilliant!!.

Thanks for posting the pics. Helped a lot.

Loom is back in play but still no fans. (got plenty of search material to look at for that problem though)

CHEERS!

The fan loom is a self contained loom seperate from the rest of the engine bay wiring that only runs between the shunt box, radiator temp switch, silver resistor, fans & earth block.
