How Easy Is It To Change The Fuel Pump?

As above, also where is it? silly question I know!

Easy enough - about a 10-15 minute job start to finish.

 

It's located under the drivers side rear seat in the top of the tank.

 

However, are you sure it's the pump? They're normally pretty reliable, whereas the fuel pump (tachymetric) relay that powers it is not.

need to know this aswell, my mi isnt pumping enough fuel throufgh so starts juddering at times. is this a tank out job. or just pull them trhough the holes.

Remove the pipes and wiring plug, unscrew the ring thing that secures it into the tank, and remove upwards and out of the tank.

 

No need to drop the tank or anything like that.

 

A standard 205 GTi fuel pump supplies more than enough fuel flow for an Mi16 conversion usually.

Not not 100% sure yet but just wanted to know incase it is, is that relay the one near the steering colum? no idea what it looks like! they expensive to change?

On your car it should be under the dash near the ECU - it's a black relay with something like 7 or 8 pins from memory.

 

They're not too expensive new from a motorfactor, or a good used one is even cheaper. Easy to test with a multimeter though to establish if it's the problem.

Shame your not closer! I could do with someone taking a look for me, I've no idea how to check it!! Bodywork = can do Engine = not got a clue!!
