Could anybody tell me what I should expect mpg wise from a 2.0 turbo 8v?

With average cycle/mixed driving?

Don't mean to sound cheeky but i would be happy to pay for petrol if someone in Leicester could take me out in one.I've had a mi16 and a gti6 and now I'm looking at turbo's.

Cheers everyone B)

Also spotted a pretty nice condition Miami blue 205 1.9 at thurmaston roundabout

Why have you got Loughborough as your location if you live near Thurmaston?

I live in the Charnwood area, Loughborough is the main city of Charnwood.

I get loads of mpg out of my sort of 2.0T. It all depends on what body you are running, where you change gear in the revs and how much you like to wheelspin. I'd hazard a guess at highish thirties in mine on a run, but I have a longer gearbox

Thought your skip was a XU9T not an XU10 2.0T. B)

On average I used to get around 280 miles to a tank out of mine, wich was used daily.

I used to get around 25 mpg from my 309 8v turbo running higher boost. The T16 in my 306 does about the same.

You're about 45 minutes from me, happy to take you for a blast if you're over this way.

I feel pleased if I get more than 200 miles out of a tank, but the car is not used daily, and when it is used is generally driven hard.

Aslong as it does more than 25mpg that's fine by me

From my limited experience, it certainly stuggles to reach that in the (admittedly heavier) Xantia donor. Towing with it or keeping it on boost dropped it sub 20mpg.

Haven't done enough miles in a 205 with that engine to get an accurate figure, but subjectively it didn't seem much better

At the end of the day, it's a low-compression engine with a turbo and (comparitively) primative management - it's never going to give diesel-like economy. If economy is a concern, you'd be better going down the 16v NA route IMO.

Cheers for all the replys,I've had a mi16 but to get more power (180-220bhp) out of either a mi16 or a gti6 would cost too much.I'm sure I can live with the economy,I'll just walk to work
