Washer Jet Modification?

Recommended Posts

Weser

Did a quick search and could not find any relevent info.

Has anyone modded their washer jets to better/newer type ones?

Do any modern peugeot ones fit in?

I ask as my mnate with an integra has just fitted new honda jazz ones on his car. They mount in the same way but instead of a little jet its more of a spray like the modern cars.

I think this is a useful mod and wondered if anyone has anymore info on it. Would be a nice touch!

Citroen Xsara's have spray washers which are apparently a direct fit. Not adjustable though, which means on auto bonnets they spray too low.

Got 307/Saxo/Xsara mist type jets on mine. Hate 'em. Absolute crap. Were OK before when my (standard) bonnet was raised a little at the back due to broken hinges. Since fixing the hinges and having the bonnet sitting flush again they just fire right in to the wipers.

If you don't mind gambling a tenner to experiment, that's how much you can get them for off eBay (or they were when I bought them). They may be OK on your car, but I'll be junking mine in the future.

the saxo jets are crap above 50mph you have to let it run up your window before you wipe

^^^to be fair the standard ones aren't much better.

OP: I think it's fairly easy to replace the arms with the 405 ones with the built in squirters, could be an option but i could never be arsed.

Having said that, now my motor seems to have packed up i might have a go.

NEW 205 p1.5 on twin jet items are perfectly fine imo, and are still available and plenty cheap enough due to being the same part used on the 306.

Though I do have 405 spraybars on my 205, no need to change the arms, they just clip or cable tie onto the wipers.

Damnit which 'later model citreon'?!?!?! :P

Enquiring minds want to know!

I'm sick of my jets ATM, they're s*it. And the bloody pump's just packed up.

I hate to think how many pumps I have gone through in 205 owning period. They are just not up to it imo!

I would really like to know what the later citreon is too.

I want to go for the mist option. Is it possible to put a spacer under the jets to raise them up a bit to miss the wipers?

Xsara mist jets on mine. No adjustment required, spray perfectly onto screen and are a massive improvement over standard.

The blocks themselves are larger than standard and do not look original.

Was just about to ask a similar question; this might help.

Will wipers from a 405 fit straight onto a 205? There's a company on ebay that sell them with the built in washers and tubing.

Very tempted

EDIT: Hang about these are for a 205 I'll be ordering a set

Might get in on that, they look relatively subtle too.

BTW, what's up with your avatar? Your downpipe wasn't actually like that was it?!

Use the mist type 2, lots of water and work well, they just don;t spray half way up the screen but work better than std I think,

405 ones are rubbish as they freeze up to quickly, I remember when I first had a 405 with these and thought it was a good idea until the winter

When you say type 2, do you mean the 205 ones on that e-bay link ? Its just the 405 and 205 ones look the same, i think they have used the same picture.

I could be tempted in getting some.

I have 405 spray bars AND 306 twin jets - covers most eventualities as long as you remember to keep the bottle topped up :P

I agree that the mist ones do use a bit more " solution" but does a much better job i can live with topping it up more!!

Rather than starting another thread I thought i would ask here! What motors can you upgrade to?

I used to use a 306 one as that just lying about and I block up one of the outlets as they have two. On all the newer ones they have two outlets, is this for front and rear?

I use 106 jets that were a free five finger discout from the scrap yard, it has twin jets and seem to be fairly good if you adjust them correctly.

If you have twin outlets, why not use one motor per jet? job done :P

Because only one outlet works when you use it!? I'm sure you could bastardise it some how to get both working!
