Ever Start Something Then Wish You Hadn't....?

Track car has had a nasty looking rusty scab near the aerial for as long as I can remember, it was bad enough that it was leaking water into the interior light housing, that would then drip on your head!

So I decided to set about it.

All well and good except the roof on non-sunroof 205's has all the rigidity of a crisp packet, so where I've welded some decent gear in its made a ripply mess of the surrounding area, this would not be a problem on any other car, but the roof flexes so much any filler will crack and fall out.

As I was saying, ever start something and wish you hadn't.........

You could do with one of those WRC roof vents for it for summer trackdays, especially if it has placcy windows.

This is the downside of having a big garage and lots of tools!!

Same here. Nothings ever simple

I have an 4mm hole from an old aerial drilled into the rear of my roof (now blanked off). I was worried about distortion from mig'ing it up. Like you say the roof skin is like tin foil.

Think I will just find a sexier blank after the aggro you have had Tom.

I dont know if that 'cold front' Mig heat transfer putty would of helped at all? (Ive not used it yet) Frost sell it.

Look at it this way, You are like Jesus. You have suffered so others dont have too

I think the festive season is rubbing off on me :D

Could you not have used some alu mesh with some fibre glass filler to cover the hole with instead of welding it in a delicate area >?
