Fitting 2ltr Oil Pump To 1.9

Recommended Posts

Can anyone confirm if the 2ltr XU oil pumps are interchangable with the 1.9 ones. I want to fit the chain guard from an XU10J4 to my XU9J4 and aparently the mi16 one doesnt have the mounting holes. Is putting a second hand pump into a rebuild a good idea? presumably an OE one would be prefrable to an after market one?

Thanks

Steve

Cant remember how the pump from the 2,0 is but be aware of the cranck sprockets, as you can see the old one, on the 1,9 GTI is in two parts and can slip if the nut isent tighten enugh,, i welded mine, but ended up using the 2,0L sprocket as i will have higher rpm on the pump

As said, the pump will fit but the crank pinion is also a different size.

Check Dr Sartys Oil component compatability for some more info but I've usd an XU10J2 pump & crank pinion on my recent engine build but had to get a web on the block above the crank pinion thinned so the larger crank pinion & chain would clear.
