How Much?

I know ebay ads are not really wanted in this section but I didn't know where else to put this.

what do you think of the prices asked??

205 GTI complete owners set £65

and another set at £95!

and lastly

owners handbook set for £75.

I do understand the drive to get the best items for your concourse condition car but are these prices a bit excessive or the going rate for a full set of books etc?

As with anything, only worth what someone will pay for it. Ebay has lots of things at absurd prices, they just never actually sell!

With automobilia, it is all about speculation and hoping on dropping on the right person with the right money at the right time. Everything has a price.

This is the one that interests me http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/GUTMANN-Peugeot-205-...=item1c16f352d8 , though I have got it already and it is scanned and available for download in the PSOOC site too. Someone may pay that for it if so inclined.

I have seen a T16 manual go for £140+ on eBay before, but it was bought by someone who owns a T16 and therefore it was quite cheap to them.

I must admit I do have details of the Roadspeed conversion that was available and a few others all tucked away. But I didn't pay a great deal for them at the time.

I don't think that's that unreasonable. Do you have any idea how rare Ph1 GTI parts are becoming?

I think its insane, there are ph1 steering wheels on ebay for £35. That guy is dreaming.

There are Phase 1 wheels and phase 1 wheels. People will pay the right money for a mint part. I sold a bakerlite steering wheel centre for a Series 1 Land Rover once one eBay for £160. They have often gone brittle and shatter. If you have a perfectly restored car then this is pennies to complete it.

A lot of it is to do with ebay changing their fees. It used to be that you had to sell quickly and make your money from bulk. Now you can put things up for a ridiculous price and it doesn't matter if you have to keep re-listing it for 6 months, as long as you sell it eventually.

Which? If you mean the guy selling the steering wheel then i'd argue that it's cheap! How much do you think one would be new?!! Also compare it to a decent aftermarket one, £35 would be a bargain!

I think he's refering to the £155 one - same seller often has parts on there for very high prices.
