Central Locking Problem

Recommended Posts

DirtyFlare

Following a recent topic about the 405 IF modules on ebay I thought I'd purchase one seeing as I never got the blip key to go with the remote central locking. (my car is a phase 2 with the dome next to the interior light).

My central locking works perfectly when using the key in the dirvers door.

Whilst installing the new remote locking sensor module, I tested the blip. It worked ;) but theres a but...

for some reason when I use the blip to lock/unlock the car, it will only lock/unlock the passenger side door and the boot, not the drivers side?!

The drivers side will still lock/unlock all the doors if you use the key in it or use the plunger inside the car.

But..

If I were to open the drivers side door (opening all three locks) then try the blip to lock the doors, it will try to lock but straight away open them. So there must be part of the signal going to the drivers door, see that its still open and reopen the doors.

Has anyone else had this problem? I'm sure there must be a problem with the wiring from the infra red sensor to the drivers side door actuator/motor.

any ideas or pointers would be great

Drivers side door motor might be dead. When you use the key in the door for so long the drivers door motor doesn't actually get used (the key turns the lock on the drivers side). So after a while the drivers door one can get "stuck" and doesn't like to move. Get the panel off the drivers door and watch what the drivers door motor is doing when you try to lock / unlock using the BLIP.

p.s. I have the blip on my Phase 2 (1993) and it used to work fine. However, the battery went flat and the blip keyfob disintegrated a bit so I've not used it since. My motor has probably got stuck too.
