no in short.

the ecu wont know the injectors are larger, so it'll just run rich and run the risk of bore-washing.

cheers, so would need a remap with different ecu as the standard ecu's aren't mappable are they?

depends which ecu you mean, the 1.9 Mi can have the chip re-written, and as such re-mapped but not many bother, as can the 2.0.

surely it needs to run first though?

Drsarty is looking at a similar issue with the 1.9Mi v 2.0Mi built that he is undertaking.

I believe that the advice from Peter Taylor was that the standard Mi injectors could give a decent amount of extra flow for uprated heads/cams, but a rising rate fuel pressure regulator (RR FPR - different to just an 'adjustable' FPR) would be required to boost the pressure under heavy acceleration to prevent the injectors running lean. This works via Manifold vacuum pressure - so the more revs the greater the fuel delivery. I have just looked into ordering a B.E.G.I 2023 RR FPR from the States. It costs £200 delivered, and there is the possibility of a group buy.

If you need further details I suggest contacting Drsarty

the standard FPR is a rising rate unit, or rather it falls from a set pressure when the throttle is closed.

I believe what an aftermarket FPR will give you is greater pressure, and hence flow through the standard Mi injectors using the standard ecu, than would otherwise be seen (this is for very wide open throttle). The fpr I was looking for would deliver up to 4.8bar of pressure if required. Drop PeterT a PM, or look at Drsarty's thread - this may give you some alternative ideas to changing the injectors.
