Crashed the Xs tonight on the way home from work

 

My fault, pulled out when I thought it was clear and a girl in a golf took the front off the 205. I'd say its certainly fixable, needs a passenger side chassis leg as its pretty bent and the rest - bonnet, valance, bumper, lights, radiator, wing..

 

Don't know if I have it in me to fix it, I love the car but I'm also thinking that if I'd pulled out a second earlier, she'd have t-boned me and I probably wouldn't be typing this.

 

So, off the road again and I now have no car to get to work Need to sleep on it and decide what I'm doing, breaking for parts or fixing.

had the same dilmer in one of my old 1.6 gtis,

 

so i went out n bought a 1.9 sorrento green with full leather ans pas, then some c**t nicked it!!

Bad luck Chris (or good luck depending on how you look at it I suppose?). I realise that your XS was rather special and 'far from standard' but I really do miss my original (bought it in 1993 when it was just 3 years old and did about 80,000 miles in it!). I bought my 1.9 just a couple of years ago because it was the car I always wanted 'in my youth' but often wish that I had another XS for pure nostalgia!

 

Anyway, the main this is that you (and the other driver I assume) are both OK ... and time for the next project ... even better than the last!

At the end of the day it is just a bit of tin but the main thing is that your ok and not injured. Still an annoying thing to happen though. Is the girl in the golf alright too? Would you not be better just putting the effort and money into the miami you have and just get a cheap run around?

Yeah the girl was alright, just a bit shook up. So no injuries or anything, its just a complete pain in the arse that this has happened

 

Richard, I don't know what to do to be honest. I know I could probably gather up the parts through here to fix it up, but I don't know if its worth the time, effort and money. If I break the car, theres a fair amount of money in the parts so I could just cut my losses instead of putting more money into it but at the same time, I can't picture myself not driving a 205 everyday!

Re-shell? Cost a fraction of the amount to repair you xs - what is essentially a base model shell,

 

Glad your OK though, I was abosolutly distraught when I rear ended in the summer, but it all works out fine in the end though.

Thanks allye, yes its something I've considered as I spotted a cheap Xs a while back. I'll see whether its still for sale, at the minute though its getting parked in the garage and left alone until I decide what to do.

 

Main thing is getting transport organised to get to work, and sorting out getting the girl's car repaired.

Not sure yet, i've offered to pay to fix her car so I'm waiting to find out what she wants to do.
