hi my 205 is away for the conversion and was wondering is it really worth telling the insurance about the extra 16valves, want to keep the car legal and wondered what insurance ur paying and with what company. which is the best for this kind of car.

Always worth declaring all your modifications IMO. Might cost a little more, but you will know it is legal

Yes it is.

You will technically not be insured otherwise.

be silly not to declare it mate and quite irresponsible to boot :)

and as said all the time and money will be wasted if the unsurance finds out in the event of a smash plus the plod will probably take you're licence off you for no insurance.

thats who i'm with, and as i say, very helpfull, think there part of Adrian Flux

Used these before, and will be going back to them come renewal time. Competitive quotes, and actually know what you are talking about when you phone up to add a new modification to your policy!

Another vote for HIC, brilliant service and as Jer309 said, if you phone them up and tell them you have fitted a Mi, they will simply ask you weather its a 1.9 or 2.0l rather than ask why on earth you fitted a different engine in to your car with a lot of teeth sucking and hold music!

Vote down for HIC.

As part of the Adrian Flux group, the best they could do for me was £1200 fully comp on a 2.0 205 Mi16 - this was for up to 10,000 miles per year (daily drive). This was with 9 years no claims, no speeding offences, and having previously owned a Mi. Rubbish.

I'm also with HIC. Same price as sky but HIC agreed value was cheaper which swung it.

Went with Peter Best on a classic policy (was recommended in another recent thread). £213 fully comp.
