Beam Refurb Bits

Recommended Posts

dee205

I remember someone was offering the whole new bearing kit etc for the rearm beam. For the life of me I can't find it anywhere.

What I'm after is a price, what's included and any extras that may be needed.

I plan of following the refurb guide on the site as it seems very good unless anyone has any other hints.

It's a 1.6 drum beam too.

It would be Jimistdt that you're thinking of, but as far as I'm aware he doesn't have any left

Parcel Force will want a kidney to ship one to and fro. I'm in N.Ireland

But if you know of a cheap courier that will do it then let me know a price as it might save me the hassle.

tbh with you, i've had a few customers from ireland travel here to me, as they've found it cheaper than a courier. plus i need a beam as a px, otherwise my prices are slightly higher

i'm just over an hour from holyhead

cheers

Thanks for the offer but by the time I get to the boat and pay that back and forth It'll be costing too much.

Peugeot still do the bearing+seal kit for about £20 a side (under a 306 or Xsara part Number)

Check out the important topics at the begining of the section, it has all the part numbers you might need and speak to your local pug/citroen dealer, although i found citroen slightly dearer for the same parts

depends how long ago that was, but most certainly nowadays there should be no variance between them if the part number is the same.

Bearmach, I can sort you a beam out, I'm not far from you at all

Is this the same as what Jimi was selling with an inner and outer bearing, cup which goes over the shaft, seal and metal sleave?

Nearly - it's not quite the same and doesn't include the outer golden-colour metal ring, but does include the inner and outer bearings, the shaft cup, and the outer seal (and another part that I've never seen fitted on any beam I've ever stripped, and can be safely discarded)

So there's three options then,

Buy the inner and outer bearings (but check the amount of rollers) from Gsf then get the cup, seal and sleeve from the dealers.

Buy the 306 kit from the dealer and sleeve separately (again check amount of rollers)

Buy the complete kit off ebay: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Beam-Rebuild-Kit-205...4#ht_1595wt_922 (this should have the right amount of rollers if it's the same as what Jimi supplied)

£23 for that lot from a dealer inc vat per side.

515410 CROSSMEMBR SEAL (the yellow zing plated seal carrier)

515409 CUP (silver, possibly stainless, top hat piece that seal seals against)

513262 SOCKET (inner + outer bearing and seal)

that kit pictured on ebay is exactly what Jimi supplied.

So if a pair of bearings are roughly £10 from Gsf how much are seals, cups and seal carriers from the dealer?

Is cheaper to buy the kit from the dealer then the zinc seal carrier separately or buy everything individually?
