Mi16 Which Parts?

Recommended Posts

jonathan205

Hi guys, my 205 has had an mi16 conversion through the previous owner. I have now run into a little problem, where the driveshaft came loose somehow, so ive had to have a new driveshaft. However im not convinced they put the right one back in as its still shuddering when i turn to the right and steering feels a little slack..

Can I just ask, is there normally certain parts that are used on an mi16 conversion, such as 405 driveshaft/ 309 driveshaft? 205 hubs or 405 hubs etc??

Just so I can make sure the correct ones are put on there!

I have a 205 1,6 manual gearbox incase that makes a difference...

Thanks

Jonathan

What wishbones have you got 205 or 309? All so what hubs 1.6, 1.9? One other thing does the bottom engine mount look to have been extended.

Oh and also just to make it more interesting, it was originally an automatic 1.9 gentry model, so are the gti hubs different from the gentry ones!?

I literally have no idea which parts are from what..so confusing

205 wishbones have webbing on them, whereas 309 ones do not.

205 1.9 GTi and 309 GTi driveshafts use a 35/36mm hubnut, whereas 205 1.6 GTi driveshafts use a 30/32mm hubnut.

1.9 GTi hubs have a larger spline fitting than 1.6 or base model hubs, so if you've got a 1.9 driveshaft, chances are you're running 1.9 GTi hubs (I say chances are, as 306 ones also fit, but that's outside of the scope of this)

1.6 and base model hubs use the same driveshaft fitting, but 1.6 GTi hubs have a different offset and thus take a different brake disk - it's about 10mm further offset, so compare measurements of your brake disks to the dimensions on various websites to identify them.

Hope that helps.
