Can Of Petrol And Match Moment

When I finally got the car looking as I wanted it to, I managed to catch the last race of the season in a rush and this is what happens on an engine I bought as a freshly rebuilt one and had just installed one week before.

I was looking into H22A Honda engines from the states but they are just too expensive for my budget. I am seriously considering getting rid of this money pit. Please see me through these dark times!

Is there any chance I can get away with just changing the bearing if the crank isn't marked?

Thanks,

Andrei

i would be astonished if the crank is not damaged if the bearing is in that state!

Why would you need to get an H22A from the states? Sure you could get one closer to home, certainly they are plentiful here. As for the shell, did you have any form of uprated oil control of the Mi16?

As above, I'd be surprised if that's not a new crank and conrod job I'm afraid - at the very least the crank will need a regrind and the rod getting to make sure that it's not gone out of true

I had no oil control in it, just a faulty oil pressure light...

I found an H22a with an LSD gearbox in the states for 2200 USD (~1400 GBP) delivered and I would really fancy it but it's too much money to fork out all in one go.

I have a set of decked liners and block for 11:1 compression, reground crank, 4 Mi16 pistons with 8v rods, a Petert stage 2 cam and throttle bodies waiting in the basement. I just need shells, rings and gaskets to rebuild it, but if that goes as well I'm definitely setting it on fire wherever the engine decides to give up the ghost (should it do so).

I have lots of thoughts and ideas, my budget is the problem . A dry sump is way out of my league.

Right mate id say fix it.Invest in a baffled sump and maybe an accusump. And maybe some external drains in the head going back to the sump and possibly even sorting some sort of scavinge pump to pump the oil back to the sump. It all can be done cheaply just needs a little thought and time ,

Might not be perfect but its a start ,Without spending mega money on a dry sump.

Unless you did the dry sump your self instead of buying a kit
