205 Rallye 5.5j 13" Wheels And Tyres

Recommended Posts

I am looking at buying some of the 205 Rallye original steel wheels, they can be seen here:

http://106parts.com/s2/page1.php?area2=3&a...&part=14794

Does anybody know the part number for these or maybe somewhere else where they can be purchased from so i can get some alternate prices?

What tyres or tyre size would be best for these wheels?

Finally does anybody have any idea what brakes would fit under these wheels? Would 1900 items fit?

Thanks in advance

Craig

I might be wrong, but I'm sure I remember reading that the Euro Rallye wheels were a different offset to those found on the UK Rallye, which were merely base model 205 steels, painted white. Though I can't find the original source or any specs to back this up.

As for tyres, I think you'd be lucky to find any decent at that size for general fast road use.

Have you decided against the Partner wheels option? If not, have a look at this.

Thanks for the reply John,

The ones on the 106 parts site are the Euro spec wheels I believe.

Im sure some decent tyres could be sourced, im thinking that they must make some for the classic minis and such cars.

The partner wheels arnt deep dish enough for my liking really, i thought about getting some banded but thats an expensive route really.

205 Rallye 13inch wheels do not acomodate 1900 brakes.

they don't have much space for brakes and you'll be lucky to find some decent tyres to fit onto them (for a reasonable price anyway)

edit: should have read before I replyed oh well

I'm using 13" wheels sprayed white on my Road Rally XS.

They are 13 x 5.5J with ET20 Offset, and have 185/60/13 tyres fitted.

You can still buy decent tyres for 13" wheels.

I have a mixture of Toyo CF1, Falken ZE912 and Yokohama AO21R two of each to make up a set for certain weather conditions.

I also have a set of white 14" steels, but when I use them, I loose some acceleration, I tend to use those on track days though.

To be honest, I've never weighed them, they'll be slightly lighter than the 14" steels though, I'm using them for strength, as alloys tend to snap if you hit things in ditches......lol!

I run the euro rallye steelies on a Euro Rallye with Bridgestone RE720's 175 50 13 (no longer available), or Continental Contisport 175 50 13 and even better 195 45 13.

195 on 5.5J? I currenly have 1.9 hubs, presumably i would have to change these to 1.6 hubs to run 1.6 brakes?

1.6 brake callipers will fit on 1.9 hubs using the 1.9 brake discs. I would say this should probably give you enough room, even though the calipers would be in slightly further with the 1.6 hubs. If it does'nt give enough room you could probably use a small spacer on the wheels.

Early base model 306s were fitted with exactly the same wheels but painted black B)

That setup will fit with Rallye steels with no spacers as that's what I run. It will also fit under Roland Garros wheels and XS steels with a small spacer.
