Either petrol will do, although you may find the car runs smoother and makes a little more power with super. You don't need any kind of ECU reset as the ECU is pretty basic and has no learning or adaptivity in it that I know of.

As for the clock, if I recall correctly, it has a removeable bulb in the back which you can replace. Otherwise you can easily enough get another clock unit off ebay for a few quid.

Indeed the clock has a small bulb in the back, very easy to change, cost pennies too.

It won't make a blind bit of difference if it's not set-up to run SUL.

With my original 1.9 GTi CAT engine in my L reg 205 GTi, I found that using super unleaded (Shell Optimax at the time) made it rather upset and it would misbehave slightly. Using standard Shell unleaded made it run smoothly and perform well. Weird huh ?

Well filled up with super and it has made a difference - cant honestly say more power but def smoother - less jerky when pulling away and ticks over better. It might have something to do with the 9mth old petrol in the car that I have just used up though.

Right had a bit of play getting the bulb behind the clock today sorted - ended up taking up half the dash apart but did manage to fix another blown bulb behind the heater dials.

My question is when I was ready to partly put the dash back together (not fully together as I havent got the clock bulb sorted yet) I was confronted with a single bulb with an orange cover and im not sure where it went - could'nt see an obvious place for it - im sort of guessing ashtray but couldnt see any where it clips into to? Oh it comes on when you put your lights on.

Any ideas?

Is there anywhere cheap to buy these bulb/holder things? Its an orange one Im after.

Thanks.

Im not entirely sur,e but the bulb you found could it be the ash tray light? is it wired up? if it is it sits in a little plastic holder above the ash tray door. Have agood look for it.
