Split Rim Bolts Wanted

Recommended Posts

dino20vt

I'm in the process of refurbing a set of wheels and have been on the look out for new bolts.

The trouble is the thread is M7 which is rare enough for any bolt or nut but im wanting exact copies of the originals which are 8mm bi hex/double hex/12 point head and look something like this:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...E:X:AAQ:GB:1123

But as I need 120, I refuse to pay a hundred odd quid for some bolts!

I've spent the last hour or so on Google to no avail, so does anyone happen to know somewhere i could source some?

Many thanks

I don't know where you can get those bi hex. But be very careful what you do buy, they need to be NOT stainless, 12.9 grade cap screws, de embrittled.

They're Compomotive, and i've tried them already, an eye watering £38 per bag of 30 + vat + post/packaging!!

As tom has said you need to be very careful what bolts you use. I would prefer to pay the 38 + vat to know they are from a controlled source, and are designed for the job.

38 pounds is cheap when you look at the cost of one off production

Try looking around some of the VAG forums as there are a lot of people who refurb BBS split rim wheels

Roughly how much would I be looking at paying at re chroming the old ones (already stipped in brick acid and melted the slabs)!

Simply put you need to bite the bullet and either buy the proper bolts or fit solid 1 piece wheels to your car. I would not fancy standing in court telling the judge and jury that you thought £38 for bolts was expensive after sub standard ones not up to the job bust and you mow down a pedestrian.....? Far fetched I know, but if you can afford the wheels, you can afford the proper bolts.

Tom you've misunderstood what im asking.

I dont want cheap, poor quality imitatation bolts, i want bolts of the same or higher quality to the originals just not at £178 + delivery from Compomotive.

If I cant get the originals re chromed for a reasonable price or cant get hold of decent replacements from say a Aircraft Parts supplier i'll have to pay nearly £200 on 120 bolts, it just wont be this side of Christmas!!

All i'm asking is if I can get the same thing but cheaper ;)

Bit the bullet and purchased some nuts and bolts from these guys in the end;

http://www.titanium-touch.de/titanium_touch_index_uk.htm

First class service and they're English isn't bad either. I spent more than I thought I would but even including international postage, still cheaper than any British firm as I suspect they also source them from abroad.

I'm guessing the blue material is a type of thread lock, should I put any more on or will that suffice?

If you are getting them For Dimma split rims, I'd also be interested to order too. We might save on postage having 2 lots sent as 1?

Do either of you know the exact measurement of the bolts and the amount on each wheel, I'm happy to contact these guys about a price. I'm unable to check as my motors tucked away in a barn at present.

Cheers,
