Anthony

Likely just a corroded connector or a poor earth - the front indicator and repeater are linked, and thus you usually lose both when the wiring plays silly sods. Earth block is between the headlight and radiator, and notorious for causing issues like this.

Just had to fix the same on mine... I had to clean up the contacts inside the brown connector that, like Anthony says connects both the indicator and repeater into the loom.

My earths are OK because I replaced the yellow multi-connector block jobbies with ring connectors on the ends of the wires, directly bolted in the original position on both sides..

Thanks Anthony, yeh , should have guessed that! I'll sort that tomorrow. :)

Must be something to do with this time of year, my indicator has just started playing up (not the repeater though so I am suspecting a dodgy bulb holder or wiring leading to it)

I'm a bit p---d off tryin to fix these elecy probs with my Pug. i've found a wonder drug called DeoxitD5. Its supposed to deoxidize elecy contacts and make like new if not better (unquote) I can't wait to try it and get back to you guys. Would be really great to find something that will put paid to this shortfall in Peugeots build quality. I wll be back!!!

And yes, its that time of year again. How can I improve the heater output of the 205? Its bloody non existant at the moment so any ideas would be great, Thanks.

+1, had this problem last year and it was the corroded earth.

Remember these cars are 20+ years old!

Try this stuff

Wire wool/sand paper or emery paper normally clean the surfaces up well.

I had something similar before my MOT this year. Turned out to be s*ite earth, but actually on the connector to the indicator. Simple to narrow down with a meter. You'd be surprised at how little resistance is needed to start giving problems.

Earths can cause so much grief. Again, before my MOT in the summer I had a strange fault where if I pressed the manual cooling fan switch, the wipers would operate in intermittent mode. At the same time, the standard rad fan setup had been working intermittently so I pretty much depended on the manual as backup. That turned out to be a s*ite earth too.

Well, your challenge for tonight people! I thought i had cured my lecky problems, not so, it seems. I have completely cleaned "that" brown brown plug that has 8-10 wires in/out in engine bay, and since Saturday, not had a problem. On way home tonight , the engine cuts in and out almost like an ignition fault, amber ecu light comes on. very nearly died altogether, but managed to keep it running, just. tried dabbing at the accelerator but none or little effect, so I floored it! It began to run clean and the ecu light goes out. I've managed to get home, couple of splutters, but it re-started outside house no trouble. So where to start looking for a cure for the ploblem anyone?
