On Friday me and madscientist (pedro) decided to start my 6 conversion

Anyway, 4 hours later the bay was ready to receive its new engine (thanks mark) but with it being nearly 1 we had a beer and went in.

Saturday I had to work, so that gave me Sunday to complete it but pedro was otherwise occupied.

He gave me a quick had shoehorning it in then left me to it.

Marksorrento205 came and gave me a lift for a few hours which was a great help due to me drinking far too much on Saturday night :D

Its now sorted and I took it for its first drive, oh my lord!

It may not seem much to some people but going from a 1.6 110ish bhp to 2.0 16v 165 bhp is quite a hike for me!

I can't recommend it more and would like to express my gratitude to pedro and mark for all the help!

help like that is what makes this forum better than any other I go on

How was the first drive!? I can't wait for the day mine is done and go from the diesel to the GTI6, I think I'm going to have to get used to the 167bhp and use it quite carefully to start with!

I was the same too mate - going from a 122bhp 1.9 GTi cat model to a GTi6 engine and the performance difference is vast. Like you said, you've never expect that an extra 40 odd bhp would make that much difference, but it does ! Now I've shoved ITBs on it and mapped it and again the performance difference is vast (but not quite as vast as the initial 1.9 - GTi6 conversion).
