Yep, I was stuck for a front one the other week and discovered the rears are the same.

And as they get used so little, they're normally much less worn as well!

Yep, me too.

But I'm a bit of a hoarder, so all the bits I've taken off are squirrelled away in the garage somewhere or other!

I dont have any probs with it removed. The motor is quite heavy, and so is a full a washer bottle that can sometimes leak into the boot.

Weight saving is not just about removing one item when combined with other bits it adds up. I weighed my 205 at the local tip I got 820 kg i saved over 100kgs thats like carrying a fat person around all the time.

I'd had the car for 18 months and realised I'd never had any water in the rear washer bottle and had never even tried the rear wiper. There are plenty of cars out there that don't come with a rear wiper.

I can't say I've ever missed it but that might just be the way I use the car. I do occasionally take it to work but that's only a mile away. Other than that it's just for a bit of fun at the weekend.

If I had to use it to commute or cover any kind of proper distance regularly, it would probably be worth having on there.

For the same reasons, I'm not carrying a spare wheel at the moment either. I've been driving for nearly 20 years and have never had a puncture on one of my own cars (we had a blow out on the autobahn while I was driving my mate's 6 berth campervan this summer which was rather hair-raising!)

Hardly. Probably weighs about as much as a testicle, so would you remove one of yours to make the car a litle lighter? :) But yeah, I agree that it's all about the little things adding up if total weight loss is the ultimate goal.

As for living without the rear wiper, driving on the motorway in the rain really annoys me if I can't see out the back. So much so that if I actually used my 205 enough to justify it, I would definately fit an intermitant relay to mine.

You can get brand new (aftermarket) washer pumps on eBay for about £10. I've had a 406 one on the front of mine for a couple of years. Whether they'll last as long as a genuine one in the long term I don't know, but for £10 I don't see the point in not getting one if the alternative is trying to source a well used 2nd hand one for a couple of quid.

Have a s*it before you go for a drive. That'll lose the equivilant of about 20 washer pumps :)

If you clean the rear screen well, in and out, especially if polished and use Rain-X/Anti-fog etc they're less susceptible to holding/beading water and misting. That way you won't miss the wwasher/wiper.
