If you mean the 8V and the dizzy end, then there's supposed to be a hole in the casting.

Its the 1.6 gti cylinder head and its the opposite end to the dizzy its where the cam seal is, and the cam belt cog. There is a small hole that looks like its worn there but not sure if its meant to be there.

Its just its leaking oil from the same side it isn't the head gasket as this has been done and i have fitted a new cam seal but the oil leak wasnt there and now is so if its the cam seal is there any thing that holds it in place maybe its moving as the cam spins, I am really unsure about this oil leak.

Thanks

Paul

If it is an oil return hole why would the oil then be able to pass the seal? unless there was to much oil for the return hole to deal with. Any suggestions please? Where exactly does this return hole go, just back to the sump?

Don't take this the wrong way, but this might be a lot easier if you take a picture of what it is exactly you're on about so we can give some advice?

You show me yours and I'll show you mine?? :o

If so, it was the first result from a search for "hole head" using google.

Ah, OK. So..... I'll not be removing the cam from mine to take a picture if that's what we're talking about!! :o

Boom Bang thats the one thank you very much for that. I had another play with the seal this morning and used a lot of copper slip. Just taken her for a 7 mile drive taking it nice and easy and thus far no more leak so fingers crossed.

Thanks to everyone for your help

Thanks

Ummmmm, I'm sure I'll be corrected by someone more knowledgeable if I'm talking poo...........but copper slip? :) Surely it's not good to use that somewhere where there is oil flow? Wouldn't the copper particles find their way in to the oil, which is then going to cause wear to components?

Not sure it would cause an issue but I agree it would not have been my choice of slippy stuff either, normally I use a slight smear of clean engine oil on lip to help it slide over the cam easily
